Sensei Brian Purves has been involved in Martial Arts training for over 17 years. In 2006, he achieved the rank of Sandan (third degree black belt), in Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate, under Sensei Brad White of Maple Ridge.
Early in his Martial Arts career, Sensei Brian established himself as a respected competitor in the Karate community, winning numerous tournaments in his sparring divisions. In 2004, he began competing in the WKF style Karate tournaments and is currently a member of the BC Karate team for Kumite (sparring). Some of his more recent accomplishments include:

As his competitive career winds down, Sensei Brian plans to finish strong at the 2009 NKA Black Belt Championships in Calgary.
